BALMAT – There will be no funeral service for Joy E. Beck, 60, of Balmat. Calling hours and a Gouverneur VFW Ladies Auxiliary service were held on Thursday, February 28, 2013, at Green Funeral Home, Gouverneur.
Mrs. Beck died Friday, February 22, 2013, at E.J. Noble Hospital, in Gouverneur.
Born in Gouverneur, on June 19, 1952, she was a daughter of Clifford and Beulah (Robinson) Ethridge. She graduated from Gouverneur High School and attended Canton ATC.
Joy was married to Karl Beck, on June 12, 1971, at the Gouverneur United Methodist Church, with Rev. Stanley E. Brown officiating.
Mrs. Beck was employed in food service as her husband served in the United States Army, and at Nichol’s Department Store, in Virginia.
She was very active in the Gouverneur VFW Ladies Auxiliary and enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, cooking, and flower gardening.
Mrs. Beck is survived by her husband Karl; three sisters Darlene and Jim Epperson, of Sunrise, Florida, Sherri and Scott Blizzard, of Whitmere, South Carolina, and Lydia O’Shea Vance, of Gouverneur; a brother, Spencer and Kim Vance, of Mesa, Arizona; several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents and four sisters Roseanne Ethridge, who died at birth, Dolly Whitton, Tonia Brady, and Tena Ethridge-Sorenson.
