Dan Wolfe

John Daniel Wolfe, 62, Russell, passed away Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at Van Duyn Home in Syracuse.
A graveside service was held on Saturday, February 4 at 12noon at the Hermon Cemetery with Charles Colton of the Russell Pilgrim Holiness Church officiating. Arrangements were with the Green Funeral Home, Gouverneur.
   Dan was born in Canton on May 28, 1954, the son of John Albert and Betty Davis Wolfe.
   He attended Knox Memorial School and attended BOCES for electrical training.
   Dan married Pamela S. Colton, and the couple has resided many years in Russell where they raised a family and Dan worked as a rural mail carrier for 35 years.
   Dan enjoyed watching shows on and studying history, collected rocks, stamps, and coins, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
   He is survived by his wife Pam, his children Scott of Russell, Daniel of Russell, Sherry and Brad Cordwell of Madrid, Kristine and Elmer Phillips of Colton, and his seven grandchildren. Dan is predeceased by his parents and 2 grandchildren.
   Memorial donations in Dan's memory may be made to your local organizations which assist families with cancer, diabetes, or Alzheimer's.

Elise Liscum

Elise Liscum, 81, of Gouverneur, passed away on February 5, 2017 at Massena Memorial Hospital.
There will be a celebration of life service on Sunday, February 12 at Pine Grove from 3p.m. to 5 p.m.
Elise was born on November 16, 1935 in DeKalb to the late Laura and Clifton Whitney. She was a homemaker.
Surviving her are daughters Jane and son-in-law Warren Belmore, April Belmore, Eula Whitney, Virginia Bale, Nevins Mackey, Alice VanPatten, and son James “Lucky” Liscum.
Also surviving Elise are grandchildren Chasity Crespin, Elyjah Liscum, Alivia Luilson, Adam and Zavion Dean, Cash and Leroy Liscum, Trevor, Carson, Gage Liscum.  She also has sisters and one brother surviving.
Elise was predeceased by one sister and many brothers.

William R. Vorce

William Robinson Vorce, age 84, of Gouverneur, passed away on February 1, 2017 at the Gouverneur Hospital.
He married Dorothy LaFountain in Madrid, N.Y. on August 26, 1955. Mr. Vorce worked for Niagara Mohawk and then National Grid for 38 years before his retirement.
Bill is survived by his wife, Dorothy Vorce, of Gouverneur and their son, Christopher Vorce of Cortland.

Beatrice M. Blackburn

Beatrice (Hendrick) Blackburn, Fullerville, N.Y. passed away January 10, 2017 at her home.
She was born in Goveurneur on October 11, 1931, the daughter of Clinton and Helen (Lamore) Hendrick.
She loved to cook for her family was an avid reader, enjoyed go to the casino and playing Bingo with the senior citizens club.  She also spent many years as a private caregiver.
Beatrice is survived by her daughters, Paulette and Danny Chance, Theresa Nichols, and Sandra and David Horne; her brothers, Clinton and Shirley Hendrick, and Robert and Bonnie Hendrick; a sister, Linda Weir; a sister-in-law, Carol Hendrick; six grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her father and mother and her brother, her husband, Paul Blackburn; her brother, John Hendrick; and her grandson, Arron Blackburn.
There will be no services and a private spring burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Edwards.

Martin William "Farmer Bill" Pulver III

Martin William "Farmer Bill" Pulver III, 65, passed away Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at Canton-Potsdam Hospital.
Arrangements are private with the Green Funeral Home, Gouverneur.
Bill was born in Rhinebeck, NY on May 10, 1951, the son of Martin Jr. and Ethel Zitz Pulver.
He graduated from Rhinebeck high school and attended two years of college.
Bill worked in the Hudson Valley area several years as a farmer and in construction. He moved to the north country and was known to many as "Farmer Bill", growing and selling organic vegetables from his stands in Gouverneur and Canton.
He had been a member of the metal lathers' and carpenters' union, enjoyed getting his hands dirty in his gardens, acrylic painting in his spare time, sharing time and providing guidance to the children who grew up around him.
Bill married Valerie Karczewski on November 28, 1998 at the United Church of Richville.
He is survived by his wife Valerie, two stepchildren Amanda Karczewski Reynolds and her husband Ethanof Fulton, Alexander Karczewski of Buffalo, two grandchildren Ethan C. Reynolds and Gabriella A. Reynolds, a brother Richard Pulver of Gouverneur and a sister Sharan Pulver of Gloversville. Bill is predeceased by his parents Martin and Ethel, his stepfather Alvin Brooks, and a stepson Christopher John Karczewski.

Alan Tyler

Alan D. Tyler, 64, passed away from a self-inflicted gunshot wound on Thursday, December 29, 2016 at his home in Gouverneur.. Funeral arrangements are private with the Green Funeral Home, Gouverneur. Alan was born in Oneonta on December 18, 1952, the son of Albert E. “Toby” and Elizabeth Jeanne Curtis Tyler. He graduated from Gouverneur High School and a received a degree from LeMoyne College.
Alan is survived by his two sisters Barbara Myers of Inverness, FL and Peggy Tyler of Pendleton, SC, a loving extended family, and a wide circle of friends who often gathered at Sylvia Lake. He is predeceased by his parents and a sister Nan Tyler.Alan was known for his generosity and his love of music. He will be sadly missed.
