Robert G. Ordway, age 79, of Auburndale, Florida, but formerly of Gouverneur, passed away on June 24, 2016, at the Winter Haven Hospital in Winter Haven, FL.
Calling hours for Bob were held on Thursday, June 30, 2016, from 1p.m. until 3p.m. with his funeral service immediately following at 3:00 p.m. at French Funeral Home, Gouverneur. Burialfollowed at South Russell Cemetery. Condolences may be shared online at www.frenchfuneralhomes.com.
Robert was born on August 21, 1936, in Redwood, N.Y. to the late Oscar and Alice (Naylor) Ordway. He attended Knox Memorial Central School in Russell and then went to the George Hall Trade School in Ogdensburg for welding.
Bob married Bertha Meilleur on September 1, 1956, at the Russell Methodist Church officiated by Rev. Lawrence Heatherington. Bertha passed away on October 13, 1990.
Bob was a journeyman ironworker, working for various companies and eventually owning and operating B. M. Ordway, Inc., Steel Erection. He had been living in Florida since 1995.
Bob is a member of the Local Iron Workers 440, Sons of the American Legion and a former member of the Gouverneur Elks Club.
He enjoyed restoring antique Ford cars, NASCAR and NHRA racing, and hunting; and loved going on scenic road trips. Bob was very active and never let his disabilities slow him down. No matter how busy life got for him, he always made a point to find time to spend with his family, which was very important to him. He and his wife always made sure that their children never went without.
Surviving are two sons and their wives, Randy L. and Michelle Ordway and Robert A. and Robin Ordway both of Gouverneur; two daughters, Nancy J. Ordway Phillips of Fayetteville and Patricia L. Ordway and her husband Kenneth Bennett of Manlius; a brother, Roger Ordway of Canton; a sister, Beverly Johnson of Auburndale, FL, and eight grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.
Bob is predeceased by his wife, Bertha; his parents, Oscar and Alice; a brother, Donald and a sister, Josephine Day.
Ralph F. Young
Funeral services for Ralph F. Young, age 76 of the Dolly Road was held at 11a.m. on Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at the Fox and Murray Funeral Home, with Rev. Rob Schirmer officiating.
Calling hours were held on Monday from 2p.m. to 6p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Young passed away on Friday,June 17, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family.
Surviving is his longtime companion Bonnie Petrie; two sons- Kenneth (Cheryl) Young and Ralph Young, both of Booneville; two daughters- Darlene (John) Minco of Booneville and Arena (John) Beaver of Vernon N.Y.; two sisters- Augusta and Patricia Young of Florida; four brothers -Clinton (Ellen) Young of Black Lake, Charles Young of Heuvelton, David (Mary) Young of Massena and Douglas (Yvonne) Young of Black Lake; along with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A brother Lafayette Young predeceased him.
Ralph was born on April 25, 1940 in the Town of Macomb, a son of the late Ralph D. and Edna M. (Bailey) Young.
He attended Morristown school for his education, and began loading freight cars in Syracuse in 1959. His career later advanced and he became employed with Owl Wire & Cable in Syracuse for ten years, a self-employed body and fender repairman for ten years, and then worked for Cole Muffler for an additional five years until 1987 when he became injured.
Prior marriages ended, but in 1991 he again found happiness with Bonnie Petrie ever since. Ralph was a former member of the Syracuse VFW and he enjoyed hunting and fishing on Black Lake.

Gerda McKinney
Gerda McKinney, age 90, of Gouverneur, passed away Monday, June 6, 2016 at Samaritan Summit Village in Watertown.
There are no calling hours or funeral services and arrangements are with the Green Funeral Home, Gouverneur.
Gerda was born in Germany on January 8, 1926, the daughter of Johannes and Johanna Beskers Giese.
She worked as a dental assistant, as a coordinator for the Office of the Aging until age 72, and was a homemaker, raising her family.
Gerda was a member of the German-American Club, the Birthday Club, Gouverneur Senior Citizens, and the Red Hatters. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and was a seamstress.
Gerda is survived by her sons Michael McKinney and Arthur McKinney, both of Gouverneur, three grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents, four brothers and a sister.

Martha Ann Premo
Martha Ann Premo, 75, Gouverneur, passed away Saturday, May 28, 2016 at the Gouverneur Hospital.
A graveside service was held Sunday, June 5 at 2 p.m. at East Riverside Cemetery, Gouverneur with a celebration of life that followed from 3 to 5p.m. at the Gouverneur VFW post. Arrangements are with the Green Funeral Home, Gouverneur.
Martha was born May 4, 1941, the daughter of Maynard and Margaret Spaulding Burr.
She attended Gouverneur schools and married Stephen Dean Premo on April 18, 1964.
Martha worked much of her time as a homemaker, mother, and Avon representative, enjoying time with her family and pets, attending auctions and yard sales, and reading up on home remedy recipes which she often tried.
Martha is survived by her husband Stephen, her daughters Lori and Herbert Yerdon of Gouverneur, Jodi and Frederick Wing Sr. of Gouverneur, Roni and Lyndon Fuller Jr. of Fowler, several grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister Mildred Cornell of Gouverneur, several nieces and nephews. Martha is predeceased by her parents, an infant child, brothers Maynard Jr. and Morris Burr, and a sister, Margaret Webster.

Sharon S. (Simmons) Main
Sharon Sue (Simmons) Main, 53, of Spanaway WA, passed away May 6, 2016.
A Memorial Service will be held on August 12, 2016 from 5p.m. to 7p.m. at Sleepy Hollow Road in Gouverneur. Just look for the tents. Burial services are only for immediate family on a different day.
Sharon was born on May 23,1962 in Gouverneur, the daughter of Helen (Simmons) Stacy and the late Carlton Simmons Sr.
She graduated from Indian River Central School in Philadelphia. In 1981. Sharon married Doug Brayton in 1980 and divorced severalyears later. She then married Dale Main in 1984 and the couple divorced in 1999.
Sharon Main operated a professional and private house cleaning service for several years and really loved her job and all the clients she worked with and for.
Sharon lived in New York before relocating to Washington State, were she lived for many years.
Sharon is survived by her children: Georgia Pierce and her family of Puyallup WA, Samantha Main of Spanaway WA and a step daughter, Migon Kintop and her family, of Puyallup.
She is survived by her beloved mother, Helen (Simmons) Stacy of Gouverneur.
Sheis also survived by her brothers Carlton and Flo Simmons Jr. of Antwerp, Stanley and Diane Simmons of Antwerp and her sister, Malinda and Richard Bright of Gouverneur.
Sharon also leaves behindnieces and nephews: Christopher Bright and family of Depeyster, Jessica Simmons of Texas, MandyBeth Bright and family of Gouverneur, AmberBeth Harmer and family of Gouverneur, Robert Bright and family of Gouverneur.
Sharon is predeceased byher father, Carlton Simmons Sr.

Clarence Eugene Cummings II
Clarence Eugene Cummings II, 52, of Gouverneur, passed away Saturday, June 4, 2016 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
A funeral service will be scheduled and announced in July for Clarence and arrangements are with the Green Funeral Home, Gouverneur.
Clarence was born in Gouverneur on April 6, 1964, the son of the late Thomas and Virginia Serviss Cummings.
He was employed at Moosbrugger Line Construction and worked as a New York State corrections officer for over 10 years.
Clarence enjoyed hunting, fishing, and most of all, spending time with his boys and his grandsons.
Clarence is survived by his sons Tyler James Cummings, Zachary Ryan Cummings and his wife Jenna, grandsons Jack and Clay Cummings, his four brothers Tom, Scott, Andy, and Shawn Cummings, all of Gouverneur, a sister Bobbi Jo Gonyea of Billings, Montana, and their families. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles and cousins.
He is predeceased by his parents Thomas Sr. and Virginia.
