Earl Peck

Earl E. Peck, age 85, passed away on March 26, 2024 at Gouverneur Hospital surrounded by his family.

Calling hours will be held at French Funeral Home in Gouverneur on Friday, March 29, 2024 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. His funeral service will be on Saturday, March 30, 2024 at 12:00 p.m. followed by a Celebration of Life at the Gouverneur Elks Lodge. Earl was born on October 27, 1938 in Gouverneur to the late E. Foster and Mary E. (Woods) Peck. He attended the Somerville School and graduated from Antwerp High School. Earl served in the United States Army, having enlisted at the age of 17.

Earl married Judy Rose on October 17, 1958 in the Oxbow Presbyterian Church. He had worked for the Purina Plant in Gouverneur, for the Army Corps of Engineers building the St. Lawrence Seaway, and had opened J&H Feed in Gouverneur. Earl also worked for Kinney Drugs for over 30 years before his retirement.

Earl loved his hobby farm, haying, cutting wood, and using his tractor. He enjoyed snowmobiling, bowling, golfing, time spent at Sylvia Lake, and he and Judy were quite the dancers. He served in many positions with the Spragueville Methodist Church, including as Lay Speaker, and enjoyed puzzles, puzzle books, hunting, and fishing. Above all, Earl loved his family and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, supporting all of their activities.

He is survived by his wife, Judy Peck, 4 children and their spouses, Steven and Kay Peck, Barbara and Ron Tuttle, Jr., Eric and Donna Peck, and Tammy and Matt Malin, his sister, Virginia “Ginger” Tyler, 13 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

He is predeceased by a brother-in-law, Wayne Tyler, and a granddaughter, Brittany Lorraine Peck.
