Robert L. Moore, Jr.

Robert “Sonny” L. Moore, Jr, age 84, Gouverneur,  passed away on Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at the Gouverneur Hospital.
There will be a Celebration of Life held on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at 1p.m. at the Time Out Lounge in Fowler. Arrangements are with French Funeral Home, Gouverneur.
Robert was born on November 22, 1932 in Fowler to the late Robert L. Moore, Sr. and Dorothy M. (Bennett) Moore. He graduated from the Gouverneur Central School in 1952 and proudly served in the United States Navy from 1952 until his honorable discharge in 1956. He married Rosemary Fuller on September 4, 1959.
Sonny worked as a mill operator and crusher operator for International Talc from 1960 until 1977 and for Gouverneur Talc until his retirement in 1999.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening. Robert was a founding member of the Syndicate Hunting Club, loved his beagles and his Chihuahua, Mimi, and riding his four-wheeler. In his free time, Robert was a tinkerer. He could fix anything and would do so for anybody.
His survivors include his wife of 57 years, Rose Moore; three children- Robert Moore, III and his wife, Kelley, Brenda Moore and her companion, Jeffrey Disco and Bruce Moore; two brothers and sisters-in-law- George and Susan Moore, Harry and Sandra Moore; and two sisters, Laura Dusharm and Susan Peck.
He is also survived by eight grandchildren, Robert IV “Turtle”, Brian, Jock, Bruce Jr., Kyle, Rosie, Kelly Jo, and Donovan; and three great-grandchildren, Caleb, Calvin and Logan, and has one more on the way.
Robert is predeceased by his parents and a sister, Shirley Charter.
