Violet Cochrane, 85, formerly of Gouverneur, passed away on Thursday, May 11, 2017, at her home in Claremont, New Hampshire.
Calling hours are Saturday, May 20 from 1 p.m. to 3:00 pm at the Green Funeral Home, Gouverneur followed by family remembrances at 3 p.m. Burial will be immediately afterward in East Riverside Cemetery, Gouverneur .
Violet was born on October 3, 1931 in Norwalk, CT, the daughter of Stanley and Viola Dugdale Bates.
She enjoyed crocheting, gardening, cooking, her grandchildren and caring for her dogs Sassy and Muffin. Violet was a mother, a homemaker and had worked as a caretaker.
Violet married John W. Cochrane on November 26, 1949 in Bedford, N.Y.
Mr. Cochrane passed away on January 1, 1981.
She is survived by a son John W. and Vickie (Noble) Cochrane of Dryden , NY, a daughter Cheryl A. and Stewart Foster of Colchester, VT, seven grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and one great, great grand daughter. Violet is predeceased by her parents, her husband, two sisters Jackie Shirley and Hilda Cochrane, two brothers William Bates and Stanley Bates.
