Benjamin Alexander Royce
Ogdensburg - Benjamin Alexander Royce, 51, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, July 30, 2017 at his home.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, August 3rd at 2:00 pm at the Riverside Cemetery, Gouverneur with Rev. Howard Maxson, pastor of the Fowler Baptist Church, officiating. Arrangements are with the Green Funeral Home, Gouverneur.
Benjamin was born in Gouverneur on September 20, 1965, the son of Alton and Jane Adamo Royce.
He attended Hermon-DeKalb School most of his youth and graduated from Gouverneur Central School.
Following graduation, he entered the United States Army and served for 8 years, including service in Southwest Asia during Desert Storm, and received a Good Conduct Medal and a National Defense Service Medal. During his service, Ben was stationed in Hawaii, Germany, Georgia, and Texas, among other places.
On May 2, 1991, Ben married Donna Lawton in Gouverneur with Wallace Sibley officiating.
He enjoyed researching genealogy, watching WWE wrestling, visiting the casino, photography, and taking long walks to be out in nature.
Ben is survived by his wife Donna, his two children Megan Danyelle Royce and Alexander David Royce, both of Ogdensburg, his siblings Dolores and Randy House of Fowler, Roger and Christine Royce of Edwards, Fred Royce of Gouverneur, John Royce of Gouverneur, Aunt Sally and Uncle Alan Hall of Oneida, and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, a sister Rachel Royce, and 2 brothers, Darrell Royce and Michael Royce.
Memorial donations in Ben's memory may be made to the St. Lawrence County Historical Association in Canton.
