Elizabeth “Betty” Sadler

Elizabeth “Betty” Sadler, 89, Macomb, IL, formerly of Gouverneur, NY, died of natural causes on August 27, 2020. She was born Elizabeth Rachel Cramer on August 7, 1931 in Williamsburg PA to the late Wassel and Helen (States) Cramer.

She graduated from Williamsburg High School in 1951. She married Martin L Sadler on May 17, 1952 in Williamsburg. In 1962, the couple moved to Gouverneur, NY where Martin was a guidance counselor at Gouverneur Junior-Senior High School. Betty became involved in many volunteer activities, especially with the First United Methodist Church, Cub Scouts and the March of Dimes. She loved to bowl, and was a member of many teams at Penguin Lanes. Betty was a talented cake decorator, and many people sought out her cakes for weddings and other special events. She also worked for several years as a monitor on the special needs bus for the Gouverneur School District.

In 1990, Betty and Marty retired to Florence, SC where they were active members of the Pisgah United Methodist Church. Martin died on October 20, 2015. She moved to Macomb, IL in 2019 to be closer to her family.

Preceding her in death, in addition to her husband and her parents, were her sisters Mary Keiser and Dorothy Conrad, brother William Cramer, and daughter-in-law Lisa Sadler. .

She is survived by her sons Chris (Mary) Sadler of Stevens Point, WI and Roger (Connie) Sadler of Macomb, IL; granddaughters Lauren and Sarah Sadler of Macomb; a sister Helen Frost of Galion, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at the Elms Nursing Home who made Betty’s time there such a wonderful experience.

Arrangements are with the Clugston-Tibbitts Funeral Home in Macomb. There will be no services. Her remains will be interred at a later date next to her husband in the cemetery at the Pisgah United Methodist Church in Florence, SC.
