Donald K. Turnbull, 85, of Collamer (East Syracuse), passed peacefully after a long illness. He was born in Rossie, NY on October 27, 1935. Don was a 1953 graduate of Hammond Central School and a 1955 graduate of SUNY Canton. He had a multi-faceted career, including working for Cooper Tire Co., Foland Sales, Temple Dairy, GE and Stremples Locksmith.
He spent many years in North Syracuse where he enjoyed helping his neighbors. Don was a former member of the Masonic Lodge 802 and Tigris Shriners; and was affiliated with the Collamer United Church. He enjoyed bowling, was a CB’er, NASCAR and SU fan and had a passion for antique cars, especially his pride and joy, ’39 Ford.
Don was predeceased by his parents, J. Kenneth and Helen Turnbull; and sister, Judith Laidlaw.
He is survived by his wife, Carol Temple Turnbull; son, Darin (fiancée - Carrie Mondore) Turnbull; granddaughter, Madelyn Rose Turnbull; sister, Jane Desormeau of Liverpool; brother, Terry (Kristine) Turnbull of Gouverneur; and an extended family of sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial service will be celebrated at a later date.
