Bernice A. Labrecque, 91, passed away on Tuesday, May 25, 2021 at Claxton - Hepburn Medical Center in Ogdensburg.
Funeral services are private with the Green Funeral Home in Gouverneur and burial will be in New St. James Cemetery, Gouverneur.
Bernice was born in Hartland, Vermont on April 17, 1930, one of over 20 children of Clinton and Elizabeth (Young) Laplante.
Early in life, Bernice joined her family members in the woods of Vermont, earning a living in the logging community. She also worked for Branchwood, Inc. of Randolph, VT and worked as a waitress.
Bernice enjoyed crocheting, playing bingo and cards, and spending time with family, especially her granddaughters. She lived much of her life in Vermont before moving to Fowler and living near her son Ken. Bernice enjoyed the companionship of her friend James McCullough for many years.
Bernice is survived by her son Kenneth and April Labrecque, her daughters Betty Leveille and her companion Dale Tenney, Barbara Phelps, Gloria and Raymond Rodrigue, several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents, many of her siblings, and her friend James.
