Herbert A. Haines

Herbert A. Haines, 78, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 6, 2023 at his home.

There will be no calling hours or funeral services. Arrangements are with the Green Funeral Home in Gouverneur.

Herbert was born on August 20, 1944 in New Jersey, the son of Ray and Pearl (Beavers) Haines.

He married Virginia Crawn in 1960.

Herb is predeceased by his parents, his wife Virginia, his son Leo, grandson Danny, brothers Robert and Dave, sisters Ida, Maybel, and Virginia. He is survived by his sons James and Genice, Herbert, his daughters Donna and Floyd, Cindy and Pat, Heidi and Lonnie “Scotch”, Lisa and David, Melissa and Chuck, Franny, and Betty, several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He started farming at a young age, owning and operating farms throughout his life. He also worked for several farmers in the surrounding area or could be found helping out his neighbors. Herb took great enjoyment with his team of horses, going to horse pulls with family and friends, tinkering on his tractors, or heading into the woods to cut wood.
