Roy M. LaMay, 53, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, November 9, 2023 at Gouverneur Hospital.

Roy was born the son of Dale and Linda (Lafountain) LaMay Sr. on September 9, 1970 in Syracuse.

He had worked at a plastics plant in Indiana and more recently lived in Fowler.

Roy married Amanda Kammerer on November 21, 2015.

He enjoyed cooking, singing, dancing, fishing, and spending time with his friends tipping back a cold beer, and also enjoyed time with his pets.

Roy is survived by his children Damion Welch and Natasha Welch, a stepson Nathaniel Smith, his father Dale LaMay Sr., his siblings Dale LaMay Jr., Tanya Brown, and Debbie Jones, many nieces and nephews, also many great nieces and nephews, his father-in-law Loyd Hockersmith, mother-in-law Lelia Powers and sister-in-laws Mary League, Allie Powers and Ari Powers.

He is predeceased by his mother Linda Blazek, his brother Jason Carter and a great nephew Jakari LaMay.

Roy was loved by everyone he met, he had a heart of gold and would do anything for anyone. He will be truly missed by everyone who loves him.

A celebration of life for Roy will be held on Sunday, November 19th from 4-6 pm at Jumbo’s Diner, located at 1 East Main Street, Gouverneur, NY 13642. If sending flowers, please have them delivered to the diner.
