Charles Edward Hogue, 87, passed away on June 23, 2025, at Gouverneur Hospital.
Charlie was born on February 20,1938 in Gouverneur to the late Charles and Wilma (Crandall) Hogue. He was a 1955 graduate of Gouverneur Central School. After graduating he enlisted in the United States Navy, proudly serving his country for four years as a Petty Officer 1st Class. Following his service in the Navy, Charlie worked at Gouverneur Talc, and later at Corning Glass as an electrician, retiring in 1996.
Charlie fully enjoyed his home, working away on his list of projects that seemed to grow longer, not shorter. He loved nature and outdoor activities including golf, gardening, fishing, cutting firewood, canoeing and camping. Reading and listening to news and sports on the radio mattered, as his penchant for politics and storytelling did.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia “Patti”, daughters Lynne (Stan) Sadlowski of Pittsfield, MA and Beth Hogue of Watertown, grandchildren Andrew (Mary) Guntlow and Casey (Matthew) England, great grandchildren, Lydia and Charlie Guntlow, brother, Kevin (Sara) Hogue and sister, Brenda (Paul) Sipher. He was predeceased by his parents, his sister, DeAnne Jungkind, and his brothers, Martin “Corky” and Brian Hogue.
A graveside service with Military Honors will be held on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. at East Riverside Cemetery, Gouverneur with Pastor Martha Helmer officiating.
