David G. Edwards, 81, formerly of Gouverneur, NY, passed away, Saturday morning, May 2, 2026 at Samaritan Senior Village, Watertown, NY, where he had resided for the past two years.

Born on September 28, 1944 in Gouverneur, NY, to John Gordon and Audrey Mae Shampine Edwards, and he was a 1962 graduate of Gouverneur High School.

David enlisted into the US Army in 1962 and was honorably discharged in 1966.

He married Sandra L. Bickford on May 18, 1968 at the Gouverneur United Methodist Church. The couple had been married for 54-years when Sandra passed away on February 6, 2023.

David worked for Borden’s in Watertown, NY and Penny Curtis Bakery in Syracuse, NY, for many years.

He enjoyed all sports, a huge fan of the NY Giants and the LA Dodgers. He also loved waterparks and going to local county fairs and the New York State Fair.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, David, Jr. and Melissa Edwards, Evans Mills, NY; two grandchildren, Leah Edwards (Philip Kampnich), Evans Mills, NY, and Tanner Edwards (Emma Thorington), Watertown, NY; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Kerry and Nancy Bickford, Fine, NY, and sister-in-law, Glenda Bickford, Gouverneur, NY; two nieces and a nephew.

He was predeceased by his parents, his wife, Sandra, a sister and brother-in-law, Diane and Martin Hogue, and a sister-in-law, Cheryl Bickford.
