Dorothy Vorce

Dorothy L. Vorce, age 92, of Gouverneur, NY passed away on Sunday, May 31, 2026 at Menorah Park Nursing Home in Syracuse.

Dorothy was born on April 18, 1934 in Madrid, NY to the late Luke and Alma (Morgan) LaFountain. She graduated from Madrid Central School and then went on to Watertown Business School for one year. Dorothy married William R. Vorce on August 26, 1955 in Madrid, NY. William passed away on February 1, 2017.

Dorothy had worked at various medical offices for 47 years. Her outgoing personality and compassion for her community lead her to serve as the Mayor of Gouverneur from 2003 until 2011. In her free time, Dorothy enjoyed working on needlepoint, quilting and crocheting.

Surviving is a son, Christopher Vorce of Cortland. Dorothy is predeceased by her husband, William; her parents and a brother, Jack LaFountain.
