Gouverneur Middle School Science Teacher Saddie Whitaker was the recipient of the Teacher Appreciation Award, presented by the Gouverneur Teachers Association at the Gouverneur Central School District Board of Education meeting held on Monday, December 9.

GTA Co-President Jerrilyn Patton, Gouverneur High School Social Studies teacher, presented Ms. Whittaker with the award and was able to give a brief summary of why she was nominated by another staff member.

“Ms. Whittaker is a great worker, who contributes so much to team 7,” she said. “She loves to plan and organize advisory plans. She leads team meetings and is always willing to help other teachers with tests. She can always be relied on to find the positive in any situation involving students or teachers. Saddie also spreads her influence to other classrooms and beyond as she coaches softball and is a tutor for the Title I Program. She serves on the Curriculum Committee and the Early Intervention Team. What she has contributed here in the last three years is immeasurable, the Gouverneur School District and middle school are lucky to have her.”

Ms. Whitaker then proudly received her well-deserved award. Congratulations!
