Marvin “Willie” Strate, 84, a native of Edwards, passed away September 9, 2016 in Washington, where he resided.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 22 at 11a.m. at Spragueville Cemetery with a luncheon to follow at Pine Grove Housing on Barney Street in Gouverneur.
Marvin was born January 26, 1932 in Edwards, the son of Floyd and Beulah Fuller Strate.
He attended Gouverneur schools and served in the United States Army for two years during the Korean conflict.
Willie moved to Sumer, WA in 1965 and worked at Warehouser Manufacturing Company until his retirement.
Willie married Sandra Mathous of Oxbow, was married to the late Eleanor Quaills Bleau, and is survived by his wife Arleen. He is also survived by his children Cindy, Debbie, and Gary, his stepchildren and grandchildren, two sisters-in-law Lucy Strate and Lois Strate of Gouverneur, several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
