Maude S. Jenkins, 88, of Richville, passed away Sunday, December 4, 2016 at her home.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 10th at 11:00 am at the Green Funeral Home, Gouverneur with David Hart, pastor of the First Congregational Church of Ogdensburg officiating. Calling hours will be held on Friday from 4p.m. to 7p.m.
Maude was born in Baltimore, MD on September 26, 1928, the daughter of John and Pearl Smith Lancaster.
She married Harold "Duke" Jenkins Sr. on October 29, 1949 in Philadelphia, N.Y.
Mr. Jenkins, a retired well driller and truck driver, passed away on August 3, 2014.
Maude worked as a cook and bartender at The Palms in Gouverneur and the Richville Hotel. She volunteered her time at Meals on Wheels and served on the Ladies Auxiliary of the Richville Vol. Fire Department for 30 plus years.
She enjoyed playing cards, bingo, cooking, baking but most of all, loved spending time with family in Maryland and back home in Richville.
Maude is survived by her seven children: Harold Jr. and Karen of Richville, Dan and Shelly of Gouverneur, Donny and Nancy of Gouverneur, John of Richville, Roy and Robin of Gouverneur, Terry of Richville, Tammy and her companion Peter Sequin of Richville, 22 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren.
She is predeceased by her husband Harold Sr., her parents, a brother Roy Lancaster and a sister, Ruth Parlett, and her husband Norman.
Memorial donations in Maude's memory may be made to the Richville Ladies Auxiliary or the Richville Vol. Fire Department, both at PO Box 51, Richville, NY 13681.
