Vivian G. (Siver) Whiting, age 94, of Winter Haven, Florida and Gouverneur passed away on May 31, 2016 at home in Winter Haven, FL.
There will be a graveside service on Monday, August 8, 2016 at 2p.m. in the Garrison Cemetery, Pitcairn, N.Y., with Rev. Dr. Beth Quick officiating. Arrangements are with French Funeral Home, Gouverneur, NY. Condolences may be shared online at www.frenchfuneralhomes.com.
Vivian was born on April 7, 1922 in Pitcairn to the late Earl B. and Mona L. (Curry) Tiffany. She graduated from the Carthage Area School in 1938 and from the Potsdam State College, Crane School of Music. She worked as a music teacher for the Gouverneur Central School until her retirement in 1979.
Vivian married J. Carl Siver on October 31, 1942. Mr. Siver passed away in 1973. Vivian married Gwyn R. Whiting on September 11, 1982 and the couple moved to Florida that year.
Vivian enjoyed crocheting, knitting, and working with needle point. She was a former member of the Gouverneur Order of Eastern Star, the American Guild of Organists, and was the organist for the Gouverneur Baptist Church as well as the Gouverneur Presbyterian Church.
Her survivors include her husband, Gwyn R. Whiting; her son, John Siver; and step-children, Donald Whiting, Linda Price and Lisa Macias. She is also survived by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Vivian is predeceased by her first husband, J. Carl Siver; a son, Robert; a daughter, Janet Loeffen and her sister, Wylna Beckman.
