Ricky James Burns, 61, passed away on Wednesday, May 3, 2023 at Upstate Hospital in Syracuse.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, May 12th from 6:00 to 7:00 pm at the Green Funeral
Home, Gouverneur.
Ricky was born on January 7, 1962 in Gouverneur, the son of Mickey Vann.
He was raised by his grandmother Freda Burns and graduated from Watertown High School.
Ricky lived most of his life around Gouverneur including in Rossie and Redwood. He had worked at the 1000 Islands Golf Course and worked on several farms.
He married Nancy Kelley on January 10, 1995 in Theresa.
Ricky enjoyed spending time with his wife Nancy and being in the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing with his son Richard. He also liked the work on the farms, snowmobiling, riding his Harley, and his time spent with his pet cats. Most of all, Ricky enjoyed working on cars, sometimes with his family and sometimes by himself. Ricky’s grandchildren could always put a smile on his face. He was a very kind hearted person who would help anybody with what he could.
He is survived by his wife Nancy, his children Michael Burns of Theresa, Daniel Burns of Philadelphia, his stepchildren Richard McIntosh of Fowler, Fawn Barrett of Theresa, his spiritual daughter Stephanie McIntosh, and their families. Ricky is also survived by his siblings Bill Burns, John Vann, Matha “Marty” Burns, and Rose Vann, several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his mother, grandmother, siblings Donnie Burns, Corea Vann, Doug Burns, Chuck Burns, and Ernest “Scooter” Vann.
