Irving Prescott Pevear, 79, passed away on Saturday, August 10, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.
Irving was born in Exeter, NH on February 17, 1945 to Hollis and DeEtta (Prescott) Pevear. He graduated from Sanborn Seminary in Kingston, NH in 1964 and joined the United States Army in June of 1965 as a military police officer. Upon the death of his father, he received an honorable discharge and returned to work the family farm in Brentwood, NH. He married Stella (Zupetz) Pevear and resided in Brentwood, NH where they were blessed with two children, Sherri and Hollis. Desiring to own his own farm, in 1978 they relocated to Gouverneur, NY where they ran a dairy farm. He sold the farm and started his own business in construction in 1987.
Later in life he reconnected with his high school sweetheart, Jacqueline (Townsend) McCarthy and moved to Dunbarton, NH. where they enjoyed traveling the world and spending time with their grandchildren. Irving was a proud veteran who enjoyed fishing, hunting, 4-wheeling, watching Nascar and the Boston Red Sox. He was a lifelong member of the Elks Club and will be remembered as a hardworking man with many talents.
Irving was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by many: his partner Jackie of 25 years; daughter Sherri (Jeff) Knight; son Hollis (Chando) Pevear; Karen & Moe Berube; Kathleen McCarthy; grandchildren Samantha (Jim) Campanaro; Daniel (Maya) Mullin; Allyson (Joey) Smith; Prescott Pevear; Julia Berube; Caroline Berube; and 5 great grandchildren.
