Charles L. “Chuck” Morrow, 84, passed away on Saturday, August 10, 2024 at his home under the care of his family and Hospice of St. Lawrence Valley.
There will be a funeral service with military honors on Saturday, August 17th at 4:00 pm at North Gouverneur United Methodist Church. There are no calling hours and arrangements are with Green Funeral Home, Gouverneur.
Chuck was born in Evergreen Park, Illinois on March 7, 1940, the son of Robert and Esther (Gibson) Morrow.
He graduated from high school and attended Colorado State University. Chuck was drafted into the United States Army in 1963 and retired from the service in 2000 as a major after serving at Fort Drum and commanding reserve units in the North Country.
Chuck married Rosemary Malvaso on October 24, 1964 in Fort Benning, Georgia.
The couple moved to New York from Colorado in 1972 and built their home on the Rock Island Road. Besides working at Fort Drum for the Department of Defense, Chuck operated R&L Log Homes. He also partnered with his wife Rosemary to own and operate the Calico Kitchen Diner in Gouverneur.
Chuck enjoyed working on his farm, providing for his horses and beef cattle, and he hosted several 4th of July branding events. He also enjoyed playing his music and was involved with bands in high school, College and his community.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years Rosemary, his son Wayne and Diana Morrow of Ohio, his grandchildren Izabella Drohn, Caleb Drohn, Austin Laughlin, Darryk and Hailie Morrow, Dylan Morrow and Mckenzie Woody, and his brother Robert J. Morrow of Illinois. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews Wendy (Jim) Long, Laura (Mike) Jones, Charlie (Maria) Morrow, Bob (Janet) Morrow, and John (Gail) Morrow. Chuck is predeceased by his parents and his sister-in-law Jacquelyn Morrow.
