Gerald R. Stevens, 88, Antwerp, passed away Monday, October 24, 2016 at his home.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 28 at 11a.m. at the Green Funeral, Gouverneur with his nephew John Peabody officiating and burial in East Riverside Cemetery, Gouverneur. Calling hours were Thursday from 1p.m. to 3p.m. and 6p.m. to 8p.m.
Gerald was born January 26, 1928 in Gouverneur, the son of Anson and Olga Mack Stevens.
He married Luella Forbes on April 2, 1949.
The couple ran a dairy farm for many years, and Gerald also worked at St. Joe Lead Company and drove school bus and charter bus for 42 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and bowling.
Gerald is survived by six children: Joyce Slate and companion Denny Hicks of Philadelphia, Barbara Dalton of Evans Mills, Laurie Monica of Theresa, Beverly and Gary Benedict of Hannibal, Carol and Mike Hicks of Elmira, Dwayne Stevens and companion Sharyl Allen of Antwerp, many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his wife Luella who died in 2011, two sons-in-law- Tom Dalton and Russell Monica, seven brothers- Donald, Douglas, Percival, Gordon, Albert, Robert, and Denver Stevens, two sisters- Arlene Stevens and Audrey Lapierre, and his parents.
