Ronald Paul “Duffer” Mashaw, 72, passed away on Thursday, August 29, 2024 at Massena Hospital.

There are no calling hours or funeral services. Arrangements are with the Green Funeral Home, Gouverneur.

Ron was born in Gouverneur on December 23, 1951, the son of Janice Mashaw.

He graduated from Gouverneur High School in 1970 and lived in the area all his life, Duffer married Barbara Tamblin on June 24, 1973.

He worked for AGWAY Petroleum, the local zinc mines, and for himself raising cattle and hauling stone.

Duffer enjoyed fishing, cutting wood, building things, woodworking, and telling jokes, some not so clean. Most of all, he enjoyed family time, especially the grandkids.

He is survived by his wife Barb, his children Lisa M. Mashaw and her companion Ernie Turnbull of Florida, Ronnie and Jeri Mashaw of Gouverneur, his grandchildren Nicole and Brandon Washburn, Michael Lamar and companion Kate Benson, Katelynn Green, Colt Sommerhauser, Jillian Mashaw and companion Joel Spellicy, Gage Mashaw, and Ronnie Mashaw, his great grandchildren Grayson, Delaney, Briggs, Crue, Tagg, and Grey. He is also survived by his mother Janice Watson of Tennessee, several siblings, nieces and nephews.
