Lawrence G. "Larry" Cole

Lawrence G. "Larry" Cole, 81, Antwerp,  passed away on Friday, June 30, 2017 at Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse.
Calling hours were on Monday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with a funeral service at 1p.m. at the Green Funeral Home, Gouverneur with Rev. Beth Quick, pastor of the Gouverneur United Methodist Church officiating and burial in Hailesboro Cemetery.
Lawrence was born in Gouverneur on October 1, 1935, the son of Glenn and Monibel Brown Cole.
He graduated from Gouverneur High School in 1953 and served in the United States Army Reserve.
On August 22, 1957, Larry married Marjorie K. Andrews at the United Methodist Church parsonage with Rev. Wood officiating.
Larry worked at Cassaw's Gas Station, Dodd's Shell Station, Dodds Motor Company, International Talc Company, and he retired from the paper mill in Natural Dam in 1997 after 35 years of employment.
He was an outdoorsman, enjoying camping, hunting, fishing, and spending time at the family cottage on Black Lake. Larry was also an avid NASCAR fan, cheering for everyone not named Jimmy Johnson.
Larry is survived by his wife of 60 years Marjorie, his children Rocky and Carol Cole of Alaska, Roxanne and Ronald Slate of Gouverneur, Daniel Cole of Gouverneur, Dana and Amy Cole of Antwerp, his brother Scott and Sharon Cole of E. Syracuse, his sisters Gloria and Gary Smith of Harrisville, Delores and Ronald Hartle of Gouverneur, several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his grandchildren Jason and Claudia Slate of Arizona, Matthew and Kelli Slate of Westvale, Gregory Cole and Kim Hilligas of Gouverneur, Nathan and Megan Cole of Gouverneur, Jonathon Cole of Antwerp, Timothy and Jacki Burns of Alaska, a stepgrandson Adam and Kristine Fykes of Alaska, his great grandchildren Alaxa, Erik, and Hannah Slate, Ethan and Quinn Slate, Wyette and Willow Cole, Teagan and Vivian Cole, Velelina and Chaeli Burns.
Larry is predeceased by his parents Glenn and Monibel, a brother Richard Cole, a daughter-in-law Jody Cole, and a great granddaughter Macy Slate.
Memorial donation in Larry's memory may be made to a charity of one's choice.

DeEtta Heh

DeEtta Heh, 92, Gouverneur, passed away on Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Syracuse.
Calling hours were held on Sunday, July 2 from 1p.m. to 2p.m. Funeral servicesfollowed at 2p.m. at the Green Funeral Home, Gouverneur, with Rev. Howard Maxson, pastor of Fowler Baptist Church, officiating. Burial immediately followed at Riverside Cemetery, Gouverneur.
DeEtta was born in Gouverneur on June 25, 1925, the daughter of Albert and Vera Porter Matthews.
She graduated from Gouverneur High School in 1943 and lived most of her life in the Gouverneur area before moving to Delphi Falls and recently to Clay, NY. DeEtta was employed at P&C Supermarket for 26 years, retiring in 1985.
DeEtta married her first husband, Francis Whitmore and had two sons Ronald and Richard.  She subsequently married James Roycroft who predeceased her. In 1967, she married Raymond Heh who passed away in 1988.
She is survived by her two sons, Richard Whitmore (Tina) of Liverpool and Ronald Whitmore of Idaho and several grandchildren, great grandchildren, a brother Elon Matthews of Liverpool, and several nephews.
DeEtta is predeceased by her husbands, parents, and a sister Janis LeClaire.

William C. Thomas, age 69, of Springfield, TN, but formerly of Gouverneur, passed away on October 4, 2016 in Springfield, TN.
There will be a graveside service on Saturday, July 1, 2017 at 1p.m. at Hailesboro Cemetery in Gouverneur with Pastor Howard Maxson officiating and Military Honors. Local arrangements are handled by French Funeral Home, Gouverneur.

Patricia Elaine (nee Shippe) Vandusen passed away suddenly at her home on Friday June 2, 2017 at the age of 58.
She was the much loved daughter of Mike (Faye) Shippee, and Shirley Nicholas (Lionel), beloved wife of Barry Vandusen, loving mother of Patrick Laidlaw (Shawna) and Amber Fretts (Joe) and cherished grandmother of Taylor, Trinity, Tobias, Eli and Gracie. Dear sister of Joadie (Larry), Rick (Donna), Ronnie (Esther), Sheila, Brad (Marc), Dianna (Daryl), David (Karen), Todd (Janine), Chris and Mike (Jackie). Patricia is the sister in law of Cheryl (Richard), Terry (Heather), Janet, and Kevin (Kelly). P
She was predeceased by one sister Renee, by one brother Greg, and mother in law Doris.  She is also survived by father in law Ivan (Diane) by numerous nieces and nephews.
A Memorial service will be held in the Spragueville Church on Saturday June 10 at 12p.m. followed by burial in the Spragueville cemetery. A Reception will follow at the American Legion in Antwerp.
A Celebration of Life will once again be held on Saturday July 29, at 12p.m. at 47 Station Rd. Gananoque, Ontario.
As expressions of sympathy donations made to the Gananoque and District Humane Society would be appreciated by the family.
