Albert Emond

Albert “Al” Leon Emond, age 78, of Gouverneur, passed away on June 8, 2021 at his daughter’s home under the care of his family and hospice.

There were calling hours for Al at French Funeral Home, Gouverneur on Saturday, June 12, 2021 from 1:00-3:30 p.m. His funeral service immediately followed at 3:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Al was born on December 2, 1942 in New Britain, CT to the late Albert T. and Olive (Carr) Emond. His family later moved to Vermont where he attended Mavis Bay Elementary and Burlington High School. Al resided in Vermont until he retired in 2004.

Al married Doris D. Pigeon on October 10, 1970 in Essex Junction, VT. Doris passed away on January 5, 2019. A previous marriage ended in divorce. Al worked for Merrill Transport and Carpenter’s Trucking as a truck driver throughout his working life. He retired in 2004 and moved to Gouverneur, NY to be closer to his grandchildren.

In his spare time, Al enjoyed spending time with his family, hunting, fishing, camping, riding motorcycles and 4-wheelers. He was involved in his grandchildren’s activities and was proud to be their PePe.

Surviving are two sons, Jody “Joe” of Gouverneur and Shawn and his fiancé, Holly Barcomb of Rouses Point, NY; three daughters, Cindy and Dave Rich of Colchester, VT, Tammy and James O’Donnell of Statesville, NC and Tonya and George Wells of Gouverneur; two brothers, David and Linda Emond and Kenny and Sandy Emond all of Florida; a sister, Grace Rieder of Northumberland, PA; and 12 grandchildren, Jasmine, Ashton, Kolby, Kaden, Chance, Autumn, Melissa, Dustin, Joshua, James, Jesse and Amber; 13 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He is predeceased by his wife, Doris and his parents.

Bernard H. “Bernie” Knowlton

Bernard H. “Bernie” Knowlton, age 85, of Gouverneur, passed away on Sunday, June 13, 2021 at Canton - Potsdam Hospital.

He was born in Gouverneur, NY on March 5, 1936, a son of Howard A. and Thelma Fleming Knowlton.

He married the former Doris Rose in 1964. A previous marriage ended in divorce.

Bernie was raised on the family farm in Macomb and graduated from Gouverneur High School in 1954. He went to work for St. Lawrence County when they were building the “Genesee Trail”, County Route 10. Bernie then started his employment with Kinney Drugs that fall and was an active employee until 1990 when illness forced him to go on disability. He started at Kinney’s as a truck driver, was a store clerk, a buyer, and advanced to become distribution center and traffic manager.

Bernie was active in his community. He was a member of the Gouverneur Village Board, the Black Lake Fish & Game Club, Clare Hunting Club, and an honorary member of the Pine Hill Ponds Hunting Club. He was an active member of the Gouverneur Fire Department and was a member of the Gouverneur Exempt Firemen at the time of his death. Bernie was also a founding member of the Fore by Four Golf Course, now Emerald Greens Golf Course. He was also a member of the Marble City Beagle Club and the Gouverneur Elks Club at one time. He was an avid outdoors man, hunter, and fisherman. A former FFA member in high school, he supported the club by donating many of his wood creations to them for their annual auction. Bernie loved working with wood and his yard was filled with picnic tables and outdoor furniture. He also built many lovely indoor pieces, especially hope chests for his granddaughters.

Survivors include his wife, Doris, three sons, Howard and Donna of Harrisville, Thomas and Rhonda of Sackets Harbor, Timothy and Robyn of Gouverneur, two daughters, Kathleen of Florida and Terri and Edward Moore of Gouverneur, a stepson, LeRoy and Vicki Blair of Gouverneur. He was predeceased by his parents, two brothers, Merlyn “Hank” and Dwight and a sister in infancy. He has several grandchildren, great grandchildren and one to be born shortly, many nieces and nephews.

There will be a graveside service held at Hailesboro Cemetery on Friday, June 18th at 2:00 pm and a Celebration of Life to follow at 3:00 pm at the Gouverneur Community Center. Arrangements are with the Green Funeral Home, Gouverneur.

Bruce W. Morgan

Bruce W. Morgan, 67 of Attica, passed away on Tuesday, (June 1, 2021) at his home.

Mr. Morgan was born June 20, 1953 in Gouverneur, New York a son of the late George and June (Woodrow) Morgan.

Bruce enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, and classic cars. He also enjoyed attending his grandchildren's sporting events.

He is survived by his wife, Laura (Blowers) Morgan; children, Jason B. (Mara),  Jason A., Jennifer (fiance Paul), Justin, Alicia (Andrew), and Becky (fiance Bo); grandchildren, Ryan, Tanner, Morgan, Austin, Lauraeli, and Alexander; brothers, Richard (Robin) Morgan, and Clifford (Tammy) Morgan; sisters, Barbara (Garry) Richardson, Charlene (Loren) Arquitt, and Georgette Morgan Brown. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Bruce is preceded in death by a brother, Robert Morgan.

Family and friends were invited to call on Tuesday (June 15, 2021) from 4 to 6 PM at H.E. Turner & Co. Frederick F. “Tab” Nicholl

Frederick F. “Tab” Nicholl, 64, passed away on Thursday, June 10, 2021 at his home.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, June 19th from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at the Green Funeral Home in Gouverneur and a burial to follow at 1:30 pm at Riverside Cemetery, Gouverneur. A celebration of life honoring Fred will be held on August 1st at 3 Piney River Road, Gouverneur.

Fred was born in Potsdam on June 5, 1957, the son of Frederick J. And Lois (Campbell) Nicholl.

He graduated from Gouverneur High School in 1975, attended the Lincoln Welding School in Ohio, and lived most of his life near Elmdale.

Tab worked in construction, most of the time as a millwright, belonged to the local millwright union, and was employed many years by B & S Industrial in Gouverneur.

He had been a member of the Gouverneur American Legion and Greenwood Falls Hunting Club. Tab enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf, watching football, and spending time with family, especially his grandson.

Tab was previously married to Lynn Scales.

Fred is survived by his sons Tyler and Rebecca Nicholl of Gouverneur, Trevor Nicholl of Colorado, his grandson Wyatt Nicholl, his sisters Debbie and Ken Showalter of Florida, Donna Bombard of Ogdensburg, several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents Fred and Lois, and his companion Trina Holmes.

George P. Stoys

George P. Stoys of Holiday, FL, passed into the arms of our Loving Savior on May 13, 2021, under Hospice care, with his loving wife by his side. He was born on February 27, 1952 in Gouverneur, NY to Frances Stoys and the late George Stoys.

George was a 1970 graduate of Gouverneur High School, attended Canton ATC and Clarkson College. He moved to Florida after college and worked for the Publix Grocery stores for most of his career, retiring in 2013.

He is pre-deceased by his brother, Richard, and his father, George.

George is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Mary; mother, Frances; sister, Kathy Stoys-Orzel (Dennis); nephew, Zachary Papaleoni (Stephanie) and two nieces; along with stepsons Tony and Rick.

There will be a private family burial.

Kay McIntosh

Kay D. McIntosh, age 83, of Gouverneur, died on Saturday, June 12, 2021 at Gouverneur Hospital.

Kay was born on December 16, 1937 to Robert and Grace (Pritty) Cunningham. She married the love of her life, Donald W. McIntosh on December 23, 1957. Donald died March 30, 2021.

Kay was a stay-at-home wife and mother. She was always helping one neighbor or another and would work right next to her husband, Donald, on whatever project they were doing. Kay’s husband loved her long, red hair and never wanted her to cut it. He loved her homemade pies. Kay could put on a meal, with Thanksgiving being her best. She loved Christmas and her tree was always done to perfection. She enjoyed reading the gossip about the British Royal family.

Family always kidded her because she made out with her Birthday, Wedding Anniversary, and Christmas all close together in December.

Kay is predeceased by her parents, her husband of 63 years, and her sisters, Wilmina, Alberta, Dorothy, Jane and June.

She is survived by her children, David McIntosh of Antwerp, Anna Sides of Gouverneur, her grandchildren, Julie, Mike, and Jamie Rose of North Carolina, Samantha and Ricky Sides of Gouverneur, her great-grandchildren, Frances, Jessie, Mason, Jonathan, Kaleigh, Miranda, Lexie and Jake. She is also survived by Paige Bango who she considers her granddaughter, and her son, Henry Gore. She also has a niece, Delores Story, who was raised as a sister, as they were three weeks apart in age.

Kimberly Towne

Kimberly Jo Lindley (Towne), 60, passed away in Tucson, Arizona on January 11th, 2021 of a hard-fought battle with pancreatic cancer. Present by her side during this struggle were her immediate family supporting her every step of the way. Kimberly (Kim) was born on January 5th, 1961 in Gouverneur, New York to parents John and Beverly Towne, originally of Degrasse and Edwards, New York.

Kim was a graduate of Clifton-Fine High School (1978) and attended Clarkson College post-graduation. She eventually moved to Alaska to be near her family and earned both a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration/Management from the University of Alaska – Fairbanks and a Master of Science degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of Alaska – Anchorage. She was a Licensed Professional Counselor in both the State of Alaska and the State of Arizona and touched many lives in her dedicated professional career as a behavioral health trauma specialist. Kim was a light in the world that will never be extinguished through those individuals that she has helped.

Kim loved to read and write, especially poetry. She loved country music and cowboy boots, and her favorite color was pink. Her beloved family was by far the most important thing in Kim’s life. She was married to the late Rick Lindley of Sterling, Alaska, and she is survived by their three adult children and their families, Alec Lindley of Soldotna, Alaska, Shannon Lindley of Soldotna, Alaska and Ryan Lindley of Spokane, Washington. Kim and was extremely proud of her two Alaskan grandchildren, Avery Lindley (age 10) and Karbon Lindley (age 5), and was very excited to meet her newest grandbaby, little Landon Kane Lindley, who was born on April 5th, 2021 to Shannon Lindley in Soldotna, Alaska.

Kim is also survived by her parents John and Beverly Towne of Edwards, New York/Tucson, Arizona and her siblings Bettina Chastain (Towne) of Anchorage, Alaska, Penny Towne of Tucson, Arizona, Susan Harp (Towne) of Sahuarita, Arizona, and Christopher Towne of Soldotna, Alaska, as well as their significant others and many nieces and nephews, which she adored.

Graveside funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 26th, 2021 at 11 am at the Gates Cemetery in South Edwards, New York with a celebration of life to follow at the Edwards Fire Hall.

Vernon W. Fuller Jr.

Vernon “Brother” William Fuller Jr., age 52, passed away on Saturday, June 12, 2021, in the town of Fowler.

Calling hours for Vernon will be on Thursday, June 17, 2021 from 1:00-5:00 p.m. at the Gouverneur Community Center. Vernon was born on June 2, 1969 to the late Vernon and Linda Fuller SR, in Gouverneur. He has lived in Gouverneur his whole life. He married Michelle Walseman on May 26, 1990 at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church in Croghan. He was employed through Empire Northeast as the Electrical Project Manager since 2007. He always found a way to provide for his family through sacrifice and hard work. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, and gathering for holidays. He also loved hunting, fishing, four wheeling and anything to do with the outdoors. Vern was a kind-hearted man who would do anything to help anyone.

Vernon is survived by Michelle and their children, Vernon and Lindsay III, Cody and his partner Michalla Wainwright, Brady and Rachael, Nicholas and Brooke, Alex and four daughters, Mariah, Maranda, Mallorie and Clara; His sister and her husband Tina and Dave St. John; his grandchildren, William, Colten, Granger, Brayden, Jillian, Juliette, Brentley and his unborn grandson Blaise; his nephews and niece to whom he was “Dad”/”Grandpa”, Branden And Jordyn Marriott and their children Evelyn and Easton, Zack and Nicole Marriott and their children Katelynn and Carter, and Courtney Marriott and her son Abel; his maternal grandmother Eveyline Minckler; along with many aunts, uncles and cousins.

He is predeceased by his Paternal Grandfather and Grandmother, John and Ruth Fuller; Maternal Grandfather, Warren Minckler; Mother and Father, Vernon and Linda SR; Maternal Uncle, Paul Minckler; and his Son, Christopher Fuller.

Violet Mae Jackson

Violet Mae Jackson, 93, Oxbow, passed away Friday, June 11, 2021 at her home in Oxbow, where she was a resident, with family by her side.

Violet was born July 14, 1927 in Pierces Corners in the Town of Macomb, the daughter of Maude Cunningham Fleming and Edgar Fleming.

She attended Gouverneur High School for three years, and then due to family moving, graduated from Antwerp High School in 1944.

She lived in various places with her family throughout the North Country before marrying Gerald Vernon Jackson on November 19, 1949 in Gouverneur NY. Gerald passed away on January 23, 2001 in E J Noble Hospital as the result of a fall there. She resided in the same home in Oxbow for close to 65 years, from the day she got married, until finding it necessary to become a resident of various nursing homes.

Violet was a homemaker her whole life. She liked to attend family gatherings, camping, reading and writing notes daily. She loved to be with family and was most proud of their accomplishments. The door was always open to welcome the many relatives who they very much enjoyed. In her earlier years she enjoyed gospel and country music.

She is survived by five sons and three daughters: David Sr. (Rose) Jackson, Edwards; Gary (Susan) Jackson, Depeyster; Bruce Jackson, Saegertown, PA; Barbara Laidlaw (companion George Griffith), Gouverneur; Steven (Laura) Jackson, Gouverneur; Sharon Leone, Philadelphia; Peggy (Douglas) Bates, Oxbow; and Jimmy Jackson, Gouverneur. She is also survived by over 20 Grandchildren, numerous Great-Grandchildren, and two Great-Great Grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband Gerald, in 2001; her parents; a sister, Frances LaRue; and four Brothers: Everett, William, Archie and Ervin Fleming.

Calling hours were held on Tuesday, June 15, 2021 from 3:00 PM – 7:00 PM at the French Funeral Home in Gouverneur with Rev. Ronald Sinclair officiating. Services were at the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 16, 2021. Burial will immediately follow at the Hailesboro Cemetery.

Richard Alexander Koch

Richard Alexander Koch III, age 75, of Cedar Lake in the Town of Edwards, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at his home.

There will be calling hours for Richard on Sunday, May 30, 2021 from 11:00am-1:00pm at French Funeral Home in Gouverneur. His funeral service will immediately follow at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Richard was born on January 23, 1946 in San Francisco, CA. He was the son of the late Richard A. and Evelyn M. (Morrison) Koch II. He graduated from Lincoln High School in San Francisco and then went on to San Francisco State and then Potsdam State University, receiving his Master’s Degree in Education. On January 2, 1970, he married Jacqueline Scott at the Gouverneur Presbyterian Church. He was a teacher at the Gouverneur Central School District for 31 years, retiring in 2004. He had also taught for five years at the San Francisco Jail.

Richard was a member of the Sierra Club, the Adirondack Mountain Club, the Gouverneur Library Board and the Cedar Lake Association. He was an artist. He enjoyed kayaking, hiking, rock climbing and was an avid reader. Richard also loved bicycling, and had bicycled across the country twice.

He is survived by his wife, Jacqueline; a son, Richard “Ricky” Koch IV and his wife, Marcie; a daughter Michal Forkey and her husband, Chancey; two brothers, Raymond and Robert Koch and four grandchildren, Maya and Jack Weaver and Reagan and Evelyn Koch and several nieces and nephews.

Bernice A. Labrecque

Bernice A. Labrecque, 91, passed away on Tuesday, May 25, 2021 at Claxton - Hepburn Medical Center in Ogdensburg.

Funeral services are private with the Green Funeral Home in Gouverneur and burial will be in New St. James Cemetery, Gouverneur.

Bernice was born in Hartland, Vermont on April 17, 1930, one of over 20 children of Clinton and Elizabeth (Young) Laplante.

Early in life, Bernice joined her family members in the woods of Vermont, earning a living in the logging community. She also worked for Branchwood, Inc. of Randolph, VT and worked as a waitress.

Bernice enjoyed crocheting, playing bingo and cards, and spending time with family, especially her granddaughters. She lived much of her life in Vermont before moving to Fowler and living near her son Ken. Bernice enjoyed the companionship of her friend James McCullough for many years.

Bernice is survived by her son Kenneth and April Labrecque, her daughters Betty Leveille and her companion Dale Tenney, Barbara Phelps, Gloria and Raymond Rodrigue, several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents, many of her siblings, and her friend James.

Gerald G. Elliott

Gerald G Elliott, 73 of Macomb, New York and Zephyrhills, Florida and formerly of Corfu, passed away on December 22, 2020 at Advent Health in Zephyrhills.

Mr. Elliott was born December 1, 1947 in Batavia, a son of the late George and Evadene (Wiltse) Elliott.

He was a 1967 graduate of Pembroke High School. Following high school, he enlisted in the Army, where he served honorably during the Vietnam War. Gerald was a member of the Akron Masonic Lodge, the Shriners, American Legion, VFW, and the Elks Club. He retired in 2010 after 36 years as a heavy equipment operator with County Line Stone.

Mr. Elliott enjoyed landscaping, hunting, fishing, spending time with family and friends, and traveling between Black Lake and Florida.

Surviving are his children, Steven Elliott of Corfu, Michelle Czechowicz of Lockport, and Amanda Elliott of Basom; grandchildren, Bryce, Kristen, Jason, Amarri, Journie, Giara, and Isaiah; his companion, Pai, of Florida; siblings, Reylene (late George) VanGeldren of Fishkill, Gayle (Dennis) Waldron of Byron, Lee (Bonnie) Schoenthal of Corfu, and Ila Jean (late John) Terry of Hammond. Nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.

Family and friends are invited to call on May 22, 2021 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, where a Masonic Service and Memorial Service will immediately follow at 2:00 pm. Gerald will be interred in the Western New York National Cemetery in Corfu at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Debra A. Day

Debra Ann “Stella” Day, age 66, of Gouverneur, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, May 13, 2021 at Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse, NY, due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Debbie was born on August 28, 1954 in Gouverneur, NY to the late Earl D. and Joanne L. (Sayer) Hubbard. She graduated from Gouverneur Central School in 1973 and on April 7, 1973, she married the love of her life, Charles W. “Chuck” Day. Charles passed away on July 14, 2019.

Debbie worked at St. Lawrence-Lewis County BOCES as a Teacher’s Aid for many years until her retirement. After retirement she spent her days taking care of the love of her life Chuck, talking on the phone with her kids, and making her daily trips to the Silver Leaf Diner. She was always sharing stories with people about the ones she loved and enjoyed visiting with others showing pictures of her grandkids and stories about their activities and how much joy they brought to her life.

Surviving are three daughters, Katrina and Andrew Cook of Gouverneur, Melissa Day and her companion Greg Guin of Virginia and Stacy and Michael Varre of Syracuse; a son, Ryan and Danielle Day of Virginia; four brothers, Daniel and Belinda Hubbard of Gouverneur, David and Arleen Hubbard of Cortland, Duane and Karen Hubbard of Gouverneur and Dwight “Ike” and Tammy Hubbard of Gouverneur; a sister, Dolores and Patrick Spellicy of Camden; five grandchildren, Jenneca and Hailey Cook, Cormick Day and Michael and Lilly Varre.

Debbie is predeceased by her husband Chuck; her parents; a brother, Dale Hubbard and twin infant sons.

Ryan L. Wood

Ryan L. Wood, age 42, of Edwards, passed away in an automobile accident on May 9, 2021.

Calling hours will be held at the Edwards United Methodist Church on Thursday, May 13, 2021 from 1 – 3 and 6 – 8 p.m. His funeral service will be held at the church on Friday, May 14, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. Burial will be in Gates Cemetery, Edwards. Ryan was born on March 14, 1979 in Star Lake to Roland L. and Rita A. (McDermid) Wood. He graduated from Edwards-Knox Central School in 1997 and studied accounting and nursing at SUNY Canton. Ryan married Amanda Clark on September 24, 2016. A marriage to Erin Klock ended in divorce.

Ryan had been a Corrections Officer in Gouverneur since 2015. Previously he worked for NYSARC for 17 years, taking great pleasure in working at Dodge Pond. He enjoyed golfing, especially with his father-in-law, snowmobiling, playing softball, and had played the trumpet in high school. He was a fan of the Atlanta Braves and Philadelphia Flyers and enjoyed watching horror flicks. Ryan had a good sense of humor and loved scaring his Dad and had a good time pretending to be a monster with his boys.

His survivors include his parents, Roland and Rita Wood, sons, Noah John Wood and Silas Henry Kevin Wood, sister, Gidget Wainwright, brother, Rustin Wood and his companion, Brandi Wisner, his dog, Hurley, cat, Rolly, and many nieces and nephews, Michalla, Levi, and Gabriel Wainwright, Kadden Wisner, and Adyn and Jace Wood, and his cousins, aunts and uncles.

Ryan is predeceased by his grandparents, John and Ethel Wood and Millan and Verlie McDermot.

Ruth Lutz

Ruth S. Lutz, age 73, of Gouverneur, NY passed away on May 6, 2021 at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital in Pennsylvania.

Ruth was born on August 30, 1947 in Canton, NY to the late Maynard and Mabel (Day) Durham. She attended Gouverneur Central School. On April 22, 1978, she married Bertrand B. Lutz at the Gouverneur United Methodist Church. Bert passed away on March 2, 2002.

Ruth had worked at the Gouverneur Central School in the cafeteria. She was also a bus monitor, cleaned at the Clearview Motel and for the Town of Gouverneur, and had worked at McDonalds. She loved to cook and go camping. She provided foster care for many years and loved watching the races, especially when her children were in them.

Surviving is a son, Ronald “Buddy” White Jr.; two daughters, Ruby Douglas-Hess and her husband, Michael, and Elizabeth Brown; two stepdaughters, Lisa and Laurie Lutz; two brothers, Ronald and Danny Durham; sister, Betsy Cronk; step brother, Terry Tharrett; seven grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Ruth is predeceased by a son, Bertrand Lutz and three brothers, Maynard “Yogi”, Orin “Bubba” and Oscar “Buzzy” Durham, sister, Rose Toscano, and step-brother, Jackie “Buck” Tharrett.

Calling hours will be held at French Funeral Home in Gouverneur on Monday, May 10, 2021 from 1 – 3 and 6 – 8 p.m. There will be a graveside service on Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. in the East Riverside Cemetery in Gouverneur followed by a reception at the Gouverneur Elks Lodge. Millicent M. “Millie” Yaddow Harris

Millicent M. “Millie” Yaddow Harris, 94, passed away on Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at Lewis County General Hospital Residential Health Care.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, May 10th from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm followed by a funeral service at 1:00 pm at the Green Funeral Home, Gouverneur with burial in Hailesboro Cemetery.

Millicent was born in Evans Mills on May 8, 1926, the daughter of Henry J. and Bertha I. (Tomlinson) Yaddow.

She attended schools in Richville and graduated from Gouverneur High School in 1944.

Following graduation, Millie went to work at the Natural Dam Paper Mill. While employed at the mill, she met and married Paul Blackburn. They were divorced in 1946, and Paul passed away in 1956.

Following her divorce, Millicent met Lloyd Harris, a milk hauler for the family farm on the Small Flats Road. Eventually, the couple married in Vermont on September 10, 1952. Following their marriage, Lloyd was employed on the farm and worked for the State of New York. Millie also worked on the farm as well as the Gouverneur Tribune Press and the hospitals in Star Lake and Gouverneur as a housekeeper. Lloyd passed away in 1976.

Millie moved to Carthage in 1995 to be closer to family. She lived independently for many years before moving into assisted living. Her daily routine included napping regularly, going out with friends and family, involvement with group activities, staying busy with reading and hobbies. Millie enjoyed traveling, playing bingo at the nursing home, and music, listening to the country stompers, the fiddlers, and she loved to dance. She remained active and self sufficient, quite chatty, social, and outgoing. Millicent belonged to the Carthage Area Hospital Auxiliary and the Methodist faith.

Millie is survived by her sons David, Donald, Phillip, and Michael Harris, a step son Stanley Harris, her daughters Gloria Ayen, Mickey Manson, Shelly Hartman and her companion Dave Bulterman, a step daughter Elaine Harris, her daughter-in-law Katherine Blackburn, several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great, great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Henry Yaddow, her sister Mayfred Chaffee, many nieces and nephews. Millie is predeceased by her parents, her husbands, her son Roger Blackburn, and her sisters Mary Morse and Marion Moody.

Memorial donations in honor of Millie are encouraged to Lewis County General Hospital Residential Health Care.

Justin A. Massey

Justin Allen Massey, age 40, passed away unexpectedly in the Town of DeKalb on Tuesday, May 4, 2021.

Justin was born on May 20, 1980 in Oswego, NY to Claudette Massey and the late Antonio Alvez. He attended G Ray Bodley School, then became a roofer, working for Skyline Roofing. Justin loved fishing, spending time with his children, playing video games and doing silly dances every time he won, watching movies, was a fan of Scooby Doo and was known for wearing tie dye shirts.

Surviving is his mother and step father, Claudette Alvez and Michael Ward; seven children, Alex Davies, Austin “Beary” Lacey, Rayden “Ray Jay” Lacey, Nathan “Buggy” Massey, Saliynah Massey, Justice Massey and Axyl Massey; a brother, Jerome McSweeney Jr.; a sister, Jessica McSweeney; his maternal grandfather, Robert Ferlito; two uncles, Louis Massey and Raymond Sprague and several cousins.

Justin is predeceased by his father, Antonio Alvez and his maternal grandmother, Claudia Ferlito.

Edward J. White

Edward J. White, 83, passed away on Friday, April 23, 2021 in Melbourne, Florida. He was born on May 5, 1937 in Elmdale, NY to the late Clarence F. (Sr) and Doris M. White. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a brother Clarence F. (Jr), a son Archiel, and a granddaughter Olivia Jean.

He is survived by his wife of 4 years, Susan, his sons Edward R. (Cynthia D.), Gerald J. (Nancy S.), and Brennon Lewis (Patricia L.) White, his daughter Jamie S. (Ralph M.) Tsora, a brother Gordon K. (Ardis L.), brother-in-law Charles (his wife and their children), 13 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Ed worked for almost 25 years at St. Joe Mineral, Balmat, NY, before moving to the Melbourne area in the late 1980s, where he and his wife own and operate a Framing and Restoration business. He took great pride in his family, whom he loved unconditionally. He had a great sense of humor, was known for his “bad dad jokes,” and was always excited at how he could “MacGyver” most anything.

A memorial service was held in the Brownlie-Maxwell Funeral Chapel, Melbourne, Florida.
